A courageous woman managed to scare off an armed robber outside her house in Karachi’s Federal B Area on January 7. The incident was captured by CCTV footage.
The video showed the woman arriving home at noon and knocking on her door. As she waited, the robber, on a motorcycle, passed by without stopping.
Noticing she was alone and the area was deserted, he circled back, drew a gun, and approached her.
However, the woman swiftly raised her hand as though to strike the robber, causing him to flee the scene.
The police confirmed the incident occurred on January 7.
Meanwhile, in a surge of violence across the city, three people were shot dead in separate incidents in Steel Town, Korangi, and Sachal within an hour and a half.
The rising toll of street crime in Karachi has claimed two lives in the first nine days of January alone.
In Steel Town, a shooting left a 27-year-old man, Arif, critically injured near Ghaghar Phatak on the National Highway.
He was rushed to Jinnah Hospital by Chhipa volunteers but succumbed to his injuries before treatment could begin.
Relatives said Arif had been caught in the crossfire during a robbery attempt by fleeing robbers. Arif, who was unmarried, attempted to confront the thieves and was shot in the process.
Steel Town police have confirmed the incident occurred during an attempted robbery and are continuing the investigation.
In Korangi, a 24-year-old man, Arif Asghar, was shot dead in the Zia Colony area.
Rescue workers reported the victim's death occurred during an apparent robbery attempt, though Korangi police suggested personal enmity might have been a factor.
According to locals, the victim had a prior dispute with someone, and no belongings, including a mobile phone, were stolen from him. CCTV footage from nearby cameras can be used to assist in identifying the perpetrators.
A man was killed in a shooting near a petrol pump on the route from Ghazi Goth to Sameera Chowk on the Super Highway. The victim's body was transported to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital by Chhipa volunteers.
