Bahawalpur woman kills teenage daughter for objecting to her smoking habit

A woman has been arrested on charges of killing her teenage daughter after a domestic dispute allegedly over the mother’s smoking habit in Bahawalpur.

The incident took place in Basti Sokar within the jurisdiction of the City Yazman police station on Sunday.

According to police, the suspect, identified as Nabila, had frequent arguments with her 16-year-old daughter, Aisha, who reportedly objected to her mother’s smoking.

The police stated that the situation turned violent late Saturday night when another argument broke out. During the altercation, the mother allegedly lost her temper, restrained her daughter and strangled her.

After receiving information about the incident, police teams, along with forensic experts, reached the location and secured evidence from the scene. The accused was arrested on the spot.

The victim’s body was later moved to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital in Yazman for a post-mortem examination. Investigators said further inquiry into the case is under way.
