An attempted robbery at a mobile phone shop in Karachi was foiled by three courageous shopkeepers on Friday.

According to police, the incident occurred when a robber, wearing a mask and wig, took four people hostage inside a mobile phone shop in the port city's Clifton area.

The incident was captured on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) footage installed inside the shop.

The video showed the robber threatening the workers and looting them at gunpoint, but one brave employee grabbed the bandit, while two others quickly came to his aid.

A customer in the shop went outside and gathered the people to capture the armed mugger, as shown in the video.

However, the suspect was later handed over to the police. The law enforcers have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the culprit.

Earlier, Citizens-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) issued a report revealing that 5,960 criminal incidents were reported from Karachi in August.

Almost 5,951 incidents of snatching and theft of cell phones, motorbikes, and other vehicles were reported in the megalopolis last month, the report said.
