Islamabad’s PIMS Hospital reportedly faced a fire incident a month ago

A fire incident had also occurred at Islamabad’s PIMS Hospital a month ago, according to documents.

The documents reveal that a fire broke out at the reception area of the PIMS Nursing Hostel at around 3 a.m. on July 6. Three sofas kept at the reception were destroyed in the blaze.

According to the documents, all 78 female students residing in the hostel remained safe, and no casualties were reported.

The final cause of the fire could not be determined due to the absence of electrical and forensic reports. The hostel also had no CCTV cameras, fire alarms or emergency plan in place.

Following the incident, a committee recommended departmental action against the hostel warden and security staff, while the inquiry report also called for the suspension of junior staff.

Meanwhile, Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal said he was unaware of the July 6 incident at PIMS Hospital.

It is worth noting that earlier today, a fire broke out in the nursery of the gynecology ward at PIMS Hospital in Islamabad, killing 14 newborn babies.

Rescue officials said the fire started at around 6:45 a.m. after an air-conditioning compressor exploded in the hospital’s nursery.

Hospital authorities said only one baby could be rescued, while 14 newborns died.
