A 20-year-old woman was critically injured in Lahore after being shot by her own parents in the name of honor, according to the Punjab police.

The victim, identified as Shumaila, was a resident of the Hanjrawal area of Lahore. She sustained severe injuries in a brutal attack by her parents and uncles.

Shumaila is currently alive and undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital.

Police said the girl's father, Fayyaz, mother, Musarrat Bibi, and two paternal uncles were booked on charges of attempted murder.

The case was registered on the complaint of Sub-Inspector Intazar Hussain of Hanjrawal police station.

The Station House Officer (SHO) stated that all four suspects were arrested. Police also recovered a pistol from them and initiated an investigation into the matter.

Earlier in December, police arrested a man from Lahore's Kot Lakhpat who allegedly killed a couple in an honor killing.

Following interrogation, he revealed that his cousin was in a relationship with a girl, Beenish, and they married against their families' wishes. This led to tensions within the families and ultimately resulted in the murder of the couple.

The couple had moved to Lahore and started living in a rented flat owned by Benish's uncle on Chandrai Road. The suspect, along with accomplices Ziauddin, Alauddin, Riazuddin, and Kashif, killed them.
