Despite the installation of safe city cameras and police efforts, Lahore has witnessed almost 375 incidents of street crime in just 24 hours, data provided by the law enforcers showed on Tuesday.
According to the details, robbers looted cash from 18 people, mobile phones from 19 people, and 13 houses in different areas were robbed.
As per some statistics, in the three months of the ongoing year, Lahore police reported over 5,000 cases of snatching bikes, cars and other vehicles, so far.
The criminals have been looting an average of 200 people every day in the provincial capital. In the early 10 days of Ramadan, the police had reported over 1,000 incidents of robberies in different areas.
Sources attributed the rising crime in Lahore to the poor performance of divisional Superintendents of Police (SPs) while experts believed that unemployment, illiteracy, rising inflation, and poverty have led the city to a surge of such cases.
