Maid tortures infant after being scolded by employers

A shocking incident of child abuse surfaced in Lahore, where a three-month-old baby was assaulted by a maid reportedly upset after being scolded by her employers. The maid took out her frustration on the infant.

The incident occurred in the northern cantonment area of Lahore.

A first information report (FIR) was registered against the maid on the complaint filed by the infant’s father.

The FIR stated that the maid, Saima, 30, was hired to care for the three-month-old baby, but instead, she tortured and beat the child.

Subsequently, the infant became unwell, prompting the parent to check the CCTV footage that revealed the ill-treatment of the maid with the baby.

She also tried to suffocate the baby by covering the baby’s face with a blanket.  After the parents learned about the abuse, the maid stole jewelry and money and fled.

In a separate incident, a woman identified as Saima attempted suicide after falling from the rooftop of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. 

A police official said the situation was unclear so far that if she fell accidentally or was pushed by anyone.

The authorities formed a committee headed by the Fatima Jinnah Medical University vice-chancellor to inquire into the incident.
