Man arrested for charging illegal parking fees, beating policeman in Karachi

A case has been registered against a suspect in Karachi's Saddar area for demanding illegal parking fees and physically assaulting a traffic policeman on Saturday.
According to police, the incident occurred on Friday at Bohri Bazaar near Abdullah Haroon Road.
The traffic police official filed the case at Preedy Police Station, claiming that the suspect had engaged in a heated altercation with the officer after the latter intervened in a dispute over unlawful parking charges.
The First Information Report (FIR) states that the suspect, who was collecting illegal parking fees, became aggressive after a citizen refused to pay the fee.

The suspect then called on his accomplices, who assaulted the citizen. When the traffic policeman attempted to intervene, he was also attacked.
A video of the incident has surfaced online, showing the suspect and his accomplices beating both the citizen and the police officer. Police are investigating the other individuals involved in the incident.
Reports indicate that illegal parking fee collectors in the area charge varying amounts, from Rs 30 to Rs 150 for bikes and Rs 100 to Rs 300 for cars, especially with Eidul Fitr approaching.
