One killed, another injured in rain-related incident in Karachi

A person lost his life and another was injured following the first spell of monsoon rain that hit parts of Karachi on Tuesday.

Various areas of the city, including Scheme 33, Safoora Goth, Pehlwan Goth, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Quaidabad, Landhi, Shah Faisal Colony, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Saddar, II Chundrigar Road, and Tariq Road, experienced heavy rainfall.

In Surjani Town, Sector 7A, a signboard and a wall collapsed near the Tanki Stop, resulting in one fatality and one injury. Rescue sources confirmed the incident.

Additionally, a signboard collapsed in Gulshan-e-Muamar due to strong winds. The area also saw heavy rain, causing water to accumulate in the streets.

The strong winds and rain led to power outages in several areas, leaving residents without electricity.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had forecasted that some parts of Karachi would receive rain with thunderstorms despite the overall prediction of hot and humid weather.
