Police in Lahore arrested 28 individuals, including 18 men and 10 women, at a dance party in the Barki area following a complaint on the emergency helpline 15.
The raid, conducted by Barki police station officials, resulted in the detention of participants on charges of alcohol consumption and violating the Loudspeaker Act.
One suspect reportedly managed to evade arrest during the operation.
Among those arrested were individuals identified as Asif, Aamir, Shahid, Huzayfah, Umar, Mohammad Ali, Adnan, Zubair, Musalifin, Adil, Hamza, Faraz, Zaheer, Zain, Sahil, Daniyal, Rubin, Saba, Nihal, Ayesha, Rabia, Noor, Sadra, and Aksy. Authorities recovered items including alcohol, flavored shisha, and weapons from the venue.
This follows a similar incident last October in Karachi’s Korangi Mehran Town, where police intervened in a private party after complaints from residents.
In that case, however, no evidence of drugs or alcohol was found, and the event was concluded without arrests.
These incidents highlight ongoing concerns over private gatherings and their compliance with local laws and regulations.
