Police get custody of suspect in 18-month-old girl's rape and murder case

A judicial magistrate in Karachi has handed over a suspect to police on a seven-day physical remand in a case pertaining to alleged rape and murder of one-and-a-half-year-old girl.

The case was heard before the Judicial Magistrate of the Juvenile Court (East), where the investigating officer informed the court that on August 4, the suspect allegedly took his relative's one-and-a-half-year-old daughter outside on the pretext of buying her something.

According to the investigating officer, when the suspect brought the child back, she was unconscious and her clothes were stained with blood. The girl was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where she was pronounced dead.

The investigating officer requested physical remand, stating that police needed to determine the cause of the child's death and verify the suspect's age through a medical examination.

The court granted the suspect a seven-day physical remand and directed the authorities to conduct a medical examination to determine his age.
