PPP leader Dr Asim's wife Dr Samreen comes under gun attack in Karachi

Dr. Samreen Hussain, Vice Chancellor of Dawood University of Engineering & Technology Karachi, remained unharmed in a gun attack in Karachi on Tuesday.

The attack occurred as Dr. Samreen was on her way to attend an Independence Day event in Orangi. Unknown assailants opened fire on her vehicle, but she fortunately remained safe.

Police confirmed that Dr. Samreen, who is the wife of PPP leader Dr. Asim Hussain, was uninjured in the incident. Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack.

Dr. Samreen holds the distinction of being the first female Vice Chancellor of any University of Engineering and Technology (UET) in Pakistan, according to the official website of Dawood University.

She is also one of the founding Vice Chancellors of two public sector universities in Sindh, namely Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University (BNB WU) in Sukkur, and is a founding member of the Sindh Higher Education Commission.

Additionally, she serves as a member of the Federal Higher Education Commission and is the first female elected member of the Governing Body of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) in the field of Electronic Engineering.
