Quetta police arrested a mother and daughter for killing a man who had allegedly been blackmailing them into an illicit relationship. The suspects dismembered his body and disposed of the remains in a sewage line.

According to details shared by the police, the deceased man, identified as Hussain Ali Haidri, had an illicit relationship with a woman named Shazia. Her mother, Zahida alias Fatima, was also aware of the affair.

The gruesome incident came to light on June 11 when children spotted human fingers protruding from a wall on Panjatan Road in Hazara Town.

The families of the children alerted the police, leading to the discovery of a man's severed hand. The Serious Crime Investigation Wing (SCIW) SSP Zohaib Mohsin said that a search of the sewage line uncovered 13 dismembered body parts within an hour.

The case quickly turned into a mystery, making it difficult for investigators to trace the suspects behind the murder.

The breakthrough came when police found Hussain Ali’s taxi, parked in the same spot for three to four days, which was an unusual occurrence noted by local residents.

When police contacted Hussain Ali’s wife, she initially claimed he was in Karachi. However, following the post-mortem examination, officials asked her to identify the body at Civil Hospital Quetta.

She was able to identify her husband through his fingernails, as the rest of the body had severely decomposed.

Investigators later found a passport-sized photograph of a woman in the taxi. By retracing the taxi’s movements and reviewing CCTV footage, they identified a woman who had been with him in the car.

When questioned, the woman initially denied any involvement.

However, after further interrogation, Shazia and her daughter were questioned separately, and the daughter eventually confessed to the crime.

SCIW official Zohaib Mohsin said, “The man was increasing his demands from Zahida’s daughter, which enraged her.”

Zahida had sent her husband to Islamabad for a few days before luring Hussain Ali to her home under the pretext of dinner.

She mixed sleeping pills into his juice, and once he was incapacitated, she and her daughter dismembered his body. In the early hours of the morning, they disposed of the remains in the sewage line.

The SCIW officials explained that it took nearly a month to unravel the mystery due to pressure from local residents and the government to solve the heinous crime.
