KARACHI: The Sindh Healthcare Commission has begun coordinating with a private hospital in Nazimabad and relevant investigation authorities following an incident involving a child after an IV drip was administered.
According to Ahsan Qavi Siddiqui, head of the Sindh Healthcare Commission, the commission will initiate formal proceedings after receiving a request from the investigating officer (IO) handling the case.
He said the commission will constitute a medical panel comprising relevant experts to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The commission will also issue summons to all relevant individuals and require them to appear before the panel as part of the investigation.
Siddiqui said that whenever negligence by a hospital is established, the commission takes action after completing the required legal process.
He further stated that a medical report has already established that the woman involved in the case was not pregnant.
However, he said the precise nature of any alleged negligence or error by the hospital would only become clear after the medical panel is constituted and its findings are submitted.
The Sindh Healthcare Commission will proceed according to the findings of the expert panel and the applicable legal procedures.
