Woman, child killed as car plunges into canal

A lady and her four-year-old granddaughter have been killed in a mishap where a car plunged into a canal after a collision with a motorcycle near village 407-EB, according to rescue officials.
According to rescue officials, the incident took place on a road adjoining the canal where a collision between the car and the motorcycle caused the former to lose control, causing it to plunge into the Pakpattan Link Canal.
Due to this incident, the car driver, 55-year-old Farah Begum from Adda Kameer and her granddaughter Marha Fatima were found dead.
Rescue teams removed the corpses and transported them to the THQ Hospital. In addition to this, another person riding in the car, a female named Amina Bibi, the mother of the deceased child, was saved from the canal with injuries.
But a one and half year old girl, namely Hoorain Fatima, traveling in the car, has gone missing after falling into the canal.
In this connection, the rescue teams conducted search operations but suspended them due to darkness.
On the other hand, the motorcyclist who was a part of the crash sustained some injuries.
In this context, DSP Imran Tipu and Assistant Commissioner Jawad Malik visited the spot and monitored the rescue operation.
