Woman robs motorcyclist under guise of asking for lift in Karachi

A female thief robbed a motorcyclist in Karachi's Korangi area on the pretext of asking for a lift, it emerged on Saturday.

The victim filed a complaint at the Awami Colony police station, seeking the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident.

According to the victim, the woman approached him at Korangi's Singer Chowrangi and requested a ride. She was armed and wearing a mask.

Three accomplices on two motorcycles followed the woman.

The victim reported that when he asked the woman to disembark near Korangi No 5 Model Park, she pulled out a weapon from her handbag and pointed it at his chest.

The mugger stole his cash and mobile phone before escaping with her accomplices on a motorcycle.

According to data from the Citizen Police Liaison Committee (CPLC), nearly 471 people have lost their lives in various crimes in Karachi during the first nine months of 2024, with almost 100 of these deaths occurring during street crimes.

The city's deteriorating law and order situation has led to the theft of more than 15,000 mobile phones and 35,000 motorcycles between January and September.
