\.Former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie has taken issue with Sunil Gavaskar’s recent remarks about the Pakistan cricket team following their early exit from the Champions Trophy 2025.
After Pakistan’s underwhelming performance in the tournament, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar suggested that the current Pakistan squad would struggle against India's second-string teams.
“I think a B team (from India) certainly (can give Pakistan a run for their money). C team, I am not too sure. But a B team will be very, very hard to beat for Pakistan in their current form,” Gavaskar said after Pakistan’s elimination.

“I don’t buy this rhetoric. I saw some comments from Sunil Gavaskar about the Indian B team or Indian C team would beat the Pakistan top team. That’s nonsense, absolute nonsense,” Jason Gillespie said during a recent interview.
Earlier, former Pakistan head coach Jason Gillespie has accused interim head coach Aaqib Javed of working against him behind the scenes before his resignation in December.
In an Instagram Story on Wednesday, Gillespie referred to Javed as "a clown" and alleged that he played a role in his and Gary Kirsten’s removal from the coaching setup.
Gillespie’s remarks came in response to Javed’s statement about Pakistan's frequent coaching changes. Javed had commented, “We changed 16 coaches in the last 2.5 years and 26 selectors. If you do this to any team around the world, their performance will be like this too.”
Reacting to this, Gillespie claimed Javed had been actively working to take over the coaching role. “Aaqib was clearly undermining Gary and I behind the scenes, campaigning to be the coach in all formats,” he wrote.
