Following former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson's refusal to coach the national team, ex-West Indies skipper Darren Sammy also turned down the Pakistan Cricket Board's offer for the top post, sources said on Monday.
According to sources, Peshawar Zalmi coach refused the offer due to his existing contract as ODI and T20I head coach with the West Indies board.
Earlier, Watson rejected the lucrative offer of Rs505 million annually by the cricket body to lead the Green Shirts as head coach.
As per the sources, the Quetta Gladiators coach denied the offer due to his commitment to family and other plans.
On the other hand, Watson was only interested in taking the reins of the white-ball format, however, PCB wanted to hire a coach who could lead teams in both formats.
Sources said that PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi was in favour of a coach who could work with Pakistan for the long term.
The cricket body is likely to recruit a Pakistani coach temporarily for a five-match T20 home series with New Zealand.
