Pakistan star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem's mother, Razia Parveen, expressed her desire to invite Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra to visit her home in Mian Channu.
She made the remarks during an interview with senior journalist Hamid Mir, which will be aired on Geo News today at 8pm.
"Will you invite Neeraj Chopra to Pakistan?" the anchorperson questioned.
"In Shaa Allah, we will invite him," she replied.
During the interview, the gold medalist revealed that he was offered to play for several countries, including the UK, UAE, and Turkey, but he refused the offers.
The 27-year-old sportsman won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a record-breaking javelin throw of 92.97 meters on August 8.
His rival, Indian sportsman Neeraj Chopra, secured a silver medal with a throw of 89.45 meters.
Following the achievement, Arshad's mother termed the Indian star her own son.
"He [Neeraj Chopra] is a friend and brother of my son Arshad Nadeem. Losing and winning are part of the game, and he is like my son too. In Shaa Allah, God will give him success too," she told Independent Urdu.
Similarly, Neeraj Chopra's mother, Saroj Devi, heaped praise on the Pakistan athlete by calling him "like her son".
“We are very happy. For us, silver is also equal to gold. The one who won the gold [Arshad Nadeem] is also like our son,” Devi said while talking to Indian news channel ANI.
