Pakistani and Indian star javelin throwers Arshad Nadeem and Neeraj Chopra are anticipated to compete in India later this year, as reported by Indian media.

The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has revealed plans to organize a prestigious international javelin competition in September 2025, which will feature elite athletes from around the globe, including Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem.

During the AFI Annual General Meeting (AGM), where he concluded his 12-year presidency, Sumariwalla stated, "A premier javelin event showcasing the world’s top 10 javelin throwers will take place later this year."

He further mentioned, "Neeraj Chopra is involved in the organizing committee, collaborating with JSW, an international firm, and the AFI to facilitate this event."

Nevertheless, the ongoing tensions between the two nations regarding the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025 may impact Nadeem’s ability to participate, as both countries typically refrain from visiting one another.

The event is part of India's initiative to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships, the 2027 World Relays, and the 2028 World Junior Championships.

In their most recent encounter at the Paris Olympics, Nadeem secured a gold medal and set an Olympic record with an impressive throw of 92.97 meters, while Chopra claimed the silver medal with a throw of 89.45 meters.
