Pakistan skipper Babar Azam dethroned Indian star batter Virat Kohli to become the highest 50+ run scorer in T20 international cricket.

The 29-year-old batter achieved the feat during the third match against Ireland at the Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin.

In the International Cricket Council (ICC) ranking, Babar was listed on top with 39 half-centuries, while Kohli was spotted on the second with 38 fifties.

Babar made a new record after he played an innings of 75 runs on 42 deliveries with the help of five sixes and six fours.

Moreover, the Pakistani star set another record by hitting 25 runs in an over, leaving behind his colleague Asif Ali, who made 24 runs on six deliveries against Afghanistan in 2021.

On the other hand, the opening duo of Green Shirts', Babar and Rizwan, also became the first pair to score 3,000 runs in partnership.

Earlier, Azam and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi achieved notable career milestones during the recently concluded three-match T20I series between Pakistan and Ireland.

The 29-year-old batter won his 45th match as skipper in the short-format game, which is the most by any captain, during the second match.

Former T20 skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi has accomplished the record of bagging 300 wickets after dismissing three players in Friday’s match.
