Speaking at a press conference in Lahore, Pakistan's Test captain Shan Masood unveiled the national team's batting strategy for the upcoming tour to Australia.
The Pakistan cricket team is all set to embark on a tour to Australia on November 30, where a series of three Test matches will be played.
The first Test will be played in Perth from December 14 to 18 while the second Test will be held in Melbourne from December 26 to 30. The third Test will be held in Sydney from January 3 to 7.
Shan Masood said that the Australia series was a challenge for all of us. “Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique are performing well together. I usually play at No 3 domestically," he said.
"Sayim Ayub is a talented player, his batting approach is excellent," he continued, adding that no one will change Babar Azam's position as he was the "best batter".
On the question about Babar Azam, the captain mentioned, “The relationship with Babar Azam has always been good as we have been playing together for a long time; I and Babar have a very good understanding.”
About his return to the team, Shan Masood said, "I was dropped after the New Zealand tour. It took me time to come back. I am back after a year-and-a-half but I tried to contribute whenever I got a chance."
Shan Masood further said that playing for Pakistan was a big thing but captaining was even bigger. Captaincy was a temporary thing and what matters is to play well, he he said, hoping to perform well in Australia.
