In a super over thriller match, the USA defeated Pakistan by five runs in their second match of the T20 World Cup 2024 at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on Thursday.

Chasing the 160 runs target by Pakistan, The US equalled score in last ball of the 20th over.

Pakistan gave super over's responsibility to Mohammad Amir, who conceded 18 runs with 9 extras.

The Green Shirts' got a target of 19 runs in an over, but could only manage to score 13 runs.

Fakhar Zaman and Iftikhar Ahmed were the batters from the Pakistan side, who failed to clinch the match for their team.

Iftikhar lost his wicket after hitting a four, however, Zaman didn't get a chance to play with his bat.

“I am upset, we are not playing good in all three departments,”  skipper Babar Azam said in the post-match presser.

"We are better than that in bowling, we aren't taking wickets in the first six overs. In the middle overs, if your spinner is [are] not taking wickets then pressure is on us,” he added.

However, Pakistan cricket fans have expressed disappointment at their team's lackluster performance.

Talking to Dialogue Pakistan, a fan, named Shoaib Iqbal, lashed out at the captain saying, "Babar Azam receives Rs4.5 million monthly salary to ruin Pakistan team."

Another fan, named Muhammad Jawad, said that he was not expecting this humiliating defeat at the hands of debutant America.

The 28-year-old batter has been in hot waters for almost a year as Pakistan didn't win any ICC tournament under his captaincy.

Benched Pakistani cricket Ahmed Shehzad alleged that the friendship in the team had dented the performance of national cricket team.
