Pakistan cricket team batter Babar Azam has been ruled out of the first Test match against Bangladesh after sustaining an injury.

According to the team management, Babar Azam will miss the opening Test due to a knee injury.

The management further stated that the Pakistan team’s medical staff are currently assessing the nature and extent of the injury, adding that further updates regarding Babar Azam’s condition will be shared in due course.

It is worth noting that the first Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh is scheduled to begin tomorrow in Mirpur.

The series marks Pakistan’s second assignment in the ICC World Test Championship cycle.

Pakistan captain Shan Masood said that the pitch prepared for the Test appears likely to favour fast bowlers. He added that the final playing XI would be decided after a final assessment of the surface conditions.
