In a shocking incident, an Indian Premier League (IPL) fan lost his life after being assaulted for celebrating the dismissal of Mumbai Indians’ batter and player Rohit Sharma.

According to a report by the Free Press Journal, the fan, identified as Bandupant Tibile, was fatally assaulted with a wooden board and a stick by two individuals after he celebrated the dismissal of Rohit Sharma during a clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in Hyderabad.

The distressing event occurred in Kolhapur's Hanmantwadi area, where Tibile succumbed to injuries sustained during the altercation with Balwant Jhanjge and Sagar Jhanjge. Both perpetrators also sustained injuries and were subsequently apprehended by local law enforcement.

In the match itself, SRH achieved a historic feat by amassing the highest total ever recorded in IPL history, posting a formidable 277 for 3 in their allotted 20 overs.

Travis Head led the charge with a blistering 62 off 24 balls, while Indian all-rounder Abhishek Sharma contributed a quickfire 63 off 23 balls.

In response, MI put up a valiant effort, reaching 246 for 5 in their 20 overs. Former captain Rohit Sharma made a brisk 26 off 12 balls before being dismissed by SRH captain Pat Cummins.
