Pakistan's javelin ace Arshad Nadeem, who made the country proud by securing a gold medal at Paris Olympics 2024, is set to return to the country in the early hours of Sunday.

On August 9, the 27-year-old athlete made history by clinching Pakistan's first-ever individual gold medal, shattering the Games record with a spectacular 92.97-metre throw.

He won the medal for the country after a hiatus of 40 years. Earlier in 1984, Pakistan had won gold medals in hockey at the Los Angeles Olympic Games.

However, the national hero couldn't wait to receive a heroic welcome as he would return to the country without attending the closing ceremony of the international event.

Arshad will land at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore via Istanbul at 1am on Sunday (August 11).

The members of the Pakistan Olympic Association and government officials will receive the gold medalist at the airport.

Pakistan's star sportsman will then travel to his hometown in Khanewal to celebrate his victory.

Nadeem's mother is eager to welcome his son by giving him a hug full of love and appreciation.

Talking to a private news channel, the athlete's mother said that she would welcome his son with a garland of flowers.

Hundreds of thousands of people will give Arshad a heroic welcome upon his return to the country.

“Arshad Nadeem has brought great joy to the nation, and his reception will be historic,” said Chairman of South Asian Athletics Muhammad Akram Sahi.
