Balochistan government on Thursday announced a public sector job and Rs2 million cash prize for karate champion Shahzaib Rind, who clinched victory for Pakistan by defeating an Indian opponent.
On April 20, Rind made the country proud after he defeated India's Rana Singh at the Karate Combat 45 held in Dubai.
Following the victory, Pakistani mixed martial arts fighter lashed out at the government for not supporting the "country’s heroes".
“If our heroes are supported accordingly, they can become role models for our youth. They will also be motivated and join sports,” he said while addressing the media upon his arrival in Quetta.
Reacting to Rindh's concerns, Chief Minister Balochistan Sarfraz Bugti held a meeting with the Pakistani champion at CM House on Wednesday.
During the meeting, the provincial chief announced giving a government job and Rs2 million to the "proud of Balochistan and Pakistan".
