Javelin star Arshad Nadeem's wife said she was continuously praying for her husband's triumph at the Paris Olympics 2024.
Rashida was reading the Holy Quran when the exhilarating news of her husband's gold medal victory reached her.
In an interview, Arshad Nadeem and his wife, Rashida, shared their love story and their journey as a couple.
When asked if they had a love marriage, Arshad and his wife initially hesitated to share details. However, at the host's insistence, Rashida blushingly admitted that it was indeed a “love match.”
The 27-year-old Olympian explained that Rashida is his sister-in-law's sister. Her family liked Arshad, so they arranged their marriage.
Arshad also admitted to having a “good understanding with his wife even before their marriage.”
He maintained that behind every successful man is a strong woman and credited his wife for her care and tireless prayers for his success.
“She sacrificed her sleep and meals while praying for my success,” Arshad asserted.
"I told her she would get sick if she kept praying without sleep, but she would not listen," the athlete said.
Rashida explained that she was quite nervous about Arshad's injury, but before he left for the World Games, she encouraged him, assuring him that he would definitely bring home a medal.
“I was extremely nervous, and could not sleep or eat for three days,” Rashid shared.
Arshad said that due to the time difference, he used to call his family from Paris always late at night. However, whenever he called, Rashida was awake, praying for him.
Sharing her reaction to the news of Arshad's remarkable achievement, Rashida said, "I was reading the Holy Quran when my phone started ringing. I told my daughter to answer it because I was too nervous, but she insisted that I should hear the good news myself."
On the call, Arshad's brother delighted Rashida with the news of her husband's gold medal victory, after which she broke down into tears of gratitude.
