In a new attempt to disrupt the smooth execution of Champions Trophy-related events in Pakistan, Indian authorities have reportedly raised concerns about the trophy tour set to begin in Pakistan on Saturday.
The Indian media has been reporting since Friday afternoon that the ICC has instructed the PCB to modify the schedule for the Champions Trophy 2025 trophy tour, though there has been no official communication from the governing body of cricket.
The 'Trophy Tour' is part of the promotional efforts by the global body, which includes visits to multiple cities, based on discussions with the host nation.
Indian media reports indicate that they have raised objections to certain venues included in the trophy tour.
The ICC had not commented on this situation by the time this story was published, but one official speaking on the condition of anonymity stated that the ICC events team was in discussions with the PCB regarding the arrangements for the trophy tour.
It is believed that the trophy tour schedule announced by the PCB was not finalized without approval from the ICC and the relevant officials.
Another source in Islamabad corroborated that the trophy tour for the ICC Champions Trophy was organized with the consultation and consent of the ICC.
“The PCB did not independently decide on the trophy tour schedule,” sources clarified.
“PCB has consistently collaborated with the ICC and its commercial partners for the betterment of the sport,” remarked a source familiar with the situation.
