India's teenage cricket sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was involved in an on-field altercation during an India A match against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla on Monday.
The incident occurred shortly after India suffered a narrow defeat in a Super Over. According to broadcast footage and media reports, Sooryavanshi exchanged words with Sri Lanka A player Vishen Halambage before appearing to push him during a heated confrontation.
Sri Lanka A wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella intervened to separate the players and help calm the situation. The match concluded with the customary post-game handshakes, although television footage showed Sooryavanshi visibly upset following the exchange.
The 15-year-old has attracted significant attention in recent months following a standout performance in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL). Representing Rajasthan Royals, the left-handed opener scored 776 runs during the tournament, finishing as the leading run-scorer and earning the Orange Cap.
Sooryavanshi also received the IPL's Most Valuable Player and Emerging Player awards after registering one century and five half-centuries during the season.
