LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the dissolution of its selection committee, which was headed by former fast bowler Wahab Riaz.
According to a statement from the board, a new committee will be appointed shortly.
This development comes in the wake of Chairman Moshin Naqvi's meeting with Riaz to discuss the team selection for the upcoming series against New Zealand.
A recent news report suggested that Naqvi appeared to be actively involved in the selection process, a departure from the traditional role of chairmen.
The report hinted at tensions between Riaz and Naqvi, with Riaz allegedly losing Naqvi's trust after including Salman Butt in the national squad, only to retract the decision under public pressure.
Riaz was appointed by former Chairman Zaka Ashraf and also served as Punjab's interim sports minister.
Mohsin Naqvi has consistently emphasized his desire for the team to be selected solely on merit.
