Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi officially assumed charge as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) on Thursday, succeeding Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva.

In a statement issued by the ACC, Naqvi expressed his commitment to enhancing cricket’s growth across Asia.

“Asia remains the heartbeat of world cricket, and I am committed to working with all member boards to accelerate the game’s growth and global influence,” he stated.

Naqvi also acknowledged the contributions of his predecessor, Silva, and thanked him for his leadership.

Reflecting on his tenure, Silva highlighted key achievements, including securing record commercial rights for the ACC Asia Cup and introducing a structured pathway for emerging teams.

He also credited former ACC President Jay Shah for strengthening the council’s standing.

Naqvi, who has been serving as PCB chairman since February 2024, is also Pakistan’s Interior Minister and a former interim chief minister of Punjab.

Under his leadership, Pakistan successfully secured hosting rights for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, which will follow a hybrid model, with India playing its matches at a neutral venue.
