Nathan Lyon ignores India, says Australia will face Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2024 final

Nathan Lyon has made a bold prediction for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024, forecasting an Australia vs. Pakistan final while overlooking the Indian team.

Lyon’s confidence in Australia was expected, given his nationality. However, he anticipates Pakistan will challenge the Mitchell Marsh-led side in the grand final in Barbados on June 29.

In an interview with Prime Video, Lyon elaborated on his choice of Pakistan as one of the finalists.

“Australia will be there as I am biased towards them. The next team would be Pakistan. In those conditions, you need quality spinners and batters like Babar Azam.”

Australia triumphed over Pakistan in the semi-final of the 2021 T20 World Cup and went on to defeat New Zealand in the final, securing their first title in this format.

India last clinched the coveted T20 World Cup title in 2007. Despite reaching the knockout stages multiple times since then, they have not managed to win the trophy.

In the previous edition in 2022, they lost to England in the semi-finals, with England ultimately claiming their second World Cup title.
