Indian sports journalist and YouTuber Sushant Mehta sparked backlash over his Islamophobic remarks that have offended Muslim sentiments. Many are now calling for his boycott.
Sushant Mehta operates the YouTube channel "Sports Yaari," where he discusses cricket and provides analysis on the performance and various aspects of the Indian cricket team.
The sports journalist presents his cricket commentary alongside two or three individuals who join his show to offer analysis on cricket-related issues in India.
Famous for his fervent critique of the Indian national team's performance, Mehta is often seen expressing his views with occasional emotional outbursts.
Sushant boasts a following of over 100,000 on the micro-blogging platform ‘X’.
A video clip of Sushant Mehta went viral on ‘X,’ in which he can be seen making disrespecting comments about Islam in response to an old video of Indian stand-up comedian Munawar Farooqui.
Social media users denounced Sushant for his disrespectful comments towards revered Islamic figures, urging for his boycott through the widely used hashtag #BoycottSushantMehta on 'X'.
Sports content creator Farid Khan wrote, “Islam doesn't teach us to disrespect other religions and I'll never do that. Just for sake of views, you decided to stoop so low.”
