As the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 all set to conclude, data on team travel distances during the tournament has surfaced.
Hosted by Pakistan, the event saw varying travel requirements for teams, with New Zealand emerging as the most travelled side.
Due to political tensions, India opted to play all its matches at a neutral venue in Dubai, avoiding any travel. This decision provided a logistical advantage, as the teams facing India had to adjust to travel fatigue.
According to media reports, New Zealand covered the most distance, travelling 7,048 kilometers across Karachi, Rawalpindi, Dubai, Lahore, and back to Dubai for the final. Meanwhile, India remained in Dubai throughout the tournament with zero travel distance.
Other teams also logged considerable travel. South Africa took five flights over four matches, covering 3,286 km. Host Pakistan played in Dubai, Karachi, and Rawalpindi, covering 3,133 km. Australia played in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Dubai, travelling 2,509 km.
Bangladesh covered 1,053 km, playing in Dubai and Rawalpindi, while Afghanistan travelled 1,200 km between Karachi and Lahore. England, playing all their matches in Pakistan, travelled 1,020 km.
New Zealand's extensive travel highlighted the logistical challenges teams faced in the tournament.
