National hero Arshad Nadeem announces to gift 100 laptops to students

Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem announced that he will gift 100 laptops to students during a press conference in Karachi on Wednesday.

The announcement came after a grand event on Independence Day hosted by Governor Sindh Kamran Tessori, who invited the javelin star to celebrate Pakistan's first Olympic gold medal in forty years.

During the event, Tessori awarded Nadeem with Rs2 million and praised his relentless efforts and dedication in bringing honour to Pakistan on the international stage.

The Independence Day event was attended by prominent businessmen and personalities, who also offered rewards to Nadeem in recognition of his historic achievement.

Nadeem thanked Governor Sindh, as well as the public for celebrating his remarkable victory with such joy and enthusiasm.

Earlier, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab extended heartfelt congratulations to the nation and announced a Rs50 million reward from the Sindh government for Nadeem's extraordinary accomplishment.

The 27-year-old sportsman shattered the Olympic record with a monumental 92.97-meter throw in the men's javelin throw event at the Paris Olympics 2024 on August 8.

Nadeem’s gold medal marks the nation's first-ever individual and track-and-field Olympic medal.

The last time Pakistan stood on an Olympic podium was in 1992 when the hockey team clinched bronze at the Barcelona Olympics. 

Pakistan's first-ever Olympic gold medal was also won by the hockey team in 1984.

President Asif Ali Zardari announced to honour Arshad Nadeem with Hilal-e-Imtiaz for his exceptional achievement in securing the country's first Olympic gold medal in four decades.
