Pakistan are inches closer to the final match in the Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Cup 2024 after clinching a thrilling 5-4 victory against Canada on Wednesday.

The national hockey team remained undefeated in three matches out of four, spotted at the top of the point table with 10 points. 

At the commencement of today's match, the Pakistani side faced a struggle, while Canada hit two goals in 17 minutes at the start. 

Meanwhile, Abu Bakr Mahmood brought Pakistan back into the game with two goals.

Arshad Liaqat, Rana Waheed Ashraf and Ghazanfar Ali followed suit and set up Pakistan’s 5-4 victory.

However, from the Canadian side, Sean Davis scored two goals, and Harbir Sindhu, and Avjot Butter scored 1 each.

Earlier, Pakistan and Japan had wrapped up the match with 1-1, now, Pakistan’s access to the final depended on the victory of Japan against host Malaysia, otherwise the national team have to win its next match.

Meanwhile, Pakistan will land on the ground against New Zealand on May 10.
