Pakistan's fate in the T20 World Cup hangs in the balance ahead of their must-win clash against Ireland on June 17.
A washout due to rain would endanger their survival in the tournament, while the USA would progress to the Super 8 stage.
Currently, the Pakistan team trail in the table with 2 points after losing their two matches. The USA, on the other hand, sit comfortably with 4 points after winning both their games.
The Green Shirts need a win against Ireland to boost their points in the T20 World Cup table.
The weather forecast predicts a 41% chance of rain for the Pakistan vs Ireland match on June 17 at Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill.
Even if Pakistan wins against Ireland, the team will need to improve its run rate and hope that the USA lose its two remaining matches to qualify for the Super 8.
The USA's next match is against Ireland, with a 91% chance of rain. If rain interrupts this match, both teams will be awarded one point each, which would result in Pakistan's elimination from the tournament.
Pakistan recently secured a victory against Canada by defeating them by 7 wickets on Tuesday at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
This win came after a string of devastating defeats against the USA, a debutant team in the tournament, and India.
Pakistan suffered a crushing defeat against India in the ongoing T20 World Cup on Sunday, failing to chase down the lowest target of 120 runs and collapsing in the batting department.
Addressing a press conference after the match, Chairman PCB Mohsin Naqvi called for a "major surgery" for the national cricket team, arguing that after a string of disappointing losses by the Green Shirts in the T20 World Cup tournament, it is time to give opportunities to “new” talent.
