The arch-rivals Pakistan and India are set to lock horns in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup on June 9 in New York, according to the initial schedule of the mega-event.

The tournament, spanning from June 4 to 30 in the United States and the West Indies, will witness 20 teams competing in the first round, followed by the top two from each group advancing to the Super Eight round.

The neighbouring countries are in the same group alongside Ireland, Canada, and the hosts, the United States, sources said.

The Green Shirts will kick off its campaign against the USA on June 6, followed by the high-voltage clash with India in New York on June 9.

Further fixtures for Pakistan in the first round include a match against Canada on June 11 in New York and a face-off with Ireland in Florida on June 16.

However, sources added, the much-anticipated Pakistan-India match may be rescheduled to June 8 due to the time zone difference between the USA and the sub-continent.

According to the sources, the ICC has shared the schedule for feedback and approval with cricket boards and broadcasters.

The final schedule of the twenty-over mega event will be released soon.
