Following the lacklustre performance from the Green Shirts in the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) mega event of the T20I World Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has made fitness and performance compulsory for cricketers getting central contracts.
Speaking to the reporters in Lahore, Chairman PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, informed that he had a video call with test captain Shaan Masood to bring things in the right direction.
He added that people in the cricket circle described Masood as a good choice.
Discussing the central contracts and affiliation with foreign leagues, Naqvi warned cricketers other leagues come after Pakistan, and the board could not give more than two NOCs.
“The central contract was attributed to performance and fitness," said Naqvi, adding, "who will fulfil the performance and fitness criteria will get the central contract,” said Naqvi.
He added that there would be a post-mortem in the central contract, and it would be necessary for domestic and international cricketers to pass the fitness test for domestic and international cricket.
According to Naqvi, the international players who did not play domestic cricket would not be able to come back to the national team, and the players who performed in the domestic would be a part of the national team.
Naqvi also acknowledged alleged grouping and interference in the team’s affairs was being investigated and said, “It would be cleared soon that was taking dictations.”
Naqvi also informed that he will attend ICC’s board meeting set to be held on July 20 and 21.
