Following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's notice, the Pakistan Football League (PFL) also took action over football star Muhammad Riaz's struggles, announcing a Rs1 million support package and offering him a key position within the league.
Riaz's struggles gained attention after a video of him selling jalebis went viral on social media, highlighting the hardships he faced after his team was disbanded, leaving him jobless.
Notably, the 29-year-old footballer had represented Pakistan in the 2018 Asian Games, but the private electric provider company in Karachi dissolved the team, he had no choice but to sell the Jalebis in his home town, Hangu.
In response to the viral video, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif invited Riaz and awarded him a cheque for Rs2.5 million, along with a promise to provide him with a job.
Additionally, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur also met the footballer and presented him with another Rs1 million cheque to provide him with financial assistance.

Recently, PFL Chairman Farhan Junejo not only acknowledged Riaz's hardships but also announced an Rs1 million prize for him and offered him a key role in the PFL to help him revive his dream of representing Pakistan.
He stated that Riaz’s struggle reflects the challenges faced by many footballers who are forced to abandon their passion due to a lack of platforms and financial support.
"We are committed to ensuring that such talent does not go unnoticed. Riaz will not only receive financial support but will also play an active role in the PFL’s efforts to develop the game in Pakistan."
Riaz hailed as an Asian Games hero, expressed his gratitude, saying, "I am thankful to PFL for allowing me to return to football. I will work with PFL to ensure that no other player is neglected."
Despite Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s directives to restore departmental sports, the ban imposed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government continues to affect countless athletes, leaving them without financial security or career stability.
