Former fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar, popularly known as the "Rawalpindi Express," has said India will travel to Pakitstan for Champion Trophy 2025.
Akhtar said this during a recent interview with a local TV channel.
Despite the present uncertainty, the backchannel talks between Pakistan and India will ultimately result in India's participation in the Champions Trophy, the former speedster said.
Akhtar underlined how crucial it is to hold onto hope and wait for a resolution. "
We all know that 95 to 96 percent of sponsorship in the International Cricket Council (ICC) comes from India, which is why the Indian board can exert pressure," Akhtar said, highlighting India's vital role in the global cricket ecosystem.
He went on to say that the situation ultimately rested on the governments of both Pakistan and India and was not exclusively within the control of the PCB or the BCCI.
A hypothetical situation was also brought up by him. Consider Virat Kohli playing in Pakistan and hitting a century. .
It is to be noted that Pakitan has already rejected the hybrid model for the mini-world cup. The delay in announcing the schedule and India's non-participation will cause severe loss to the ICC.
