Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu legend and pioneer of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Royce Gracie, has converted to Islam, according to several claims on social media.
Reportedly, the UFC legend embraced Islam after meeting with Muslim YouTuber Eddie Redzovic and prominent Muslim preacher Shaykh Uthman Ibn Farooq in Chicago.
Taking to the microblogging site X, Redzovic shared a picture featuring Gracie and others raising Shahdah's finger.
"Congratulations to Royce Gracie on embracing Islam! Stay grounded in your faith and let the strength of your convictions outweigh the noise of any negativity. Remember, your belief in absolutely One God, stay true to your beliefs that pulled you towards Islam (peace acquired by submission to the will of the Creator)," the BJJ black belt holder said in a post.
Redzovic also urged the Muslim community to extend a heartfelt welcome to Gracie.
"May we embrace him with open arms, love, and support him on his journey. Royce, wishing you continued success and blessings on this new and beautiful path," he added.
"It was a great pleasure meeting your son Khonry Gracie too. Look forward to welcoming you both back to The Deen Center soon."
The news of Gracie’s new journey came just two weeks after the famed fighter received backlash for supporting Israel.
However, no official announcement was made by Gracie in this regard till the filing of this news.
