Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen expressed his disappointment with the current state of cricket in Pakistan, lamenting that the talent and enthusiasm he once saw in the team have vanished.
The Pakistan cricket team has faced intense criticism since the World Cup debacle, where Babar XI suffered a series of defeats in most of their matches and failed to qualify for the semifinals.
The losing streak has continued in the ongoing Test series, with Pakistan losing the first Test match to Bangladesh.
This marks the first time in Pakistan’s cricket history that the Green Shirts have lost a Test series on home soil against Bangladesh.
As cricket fans reel from the national team’s lackluster performances, Kevin Pietersen couldn’t stay silent either.
"What happened to cricket in Pakistan? When I played in the PSL, the standard of that league was tremendous. The players had a strong work ethic, and the young talent on display was magical," Pietersen stated on X.

What’s happening there?
Following the World Cup disappointment, the defeat against Bangladesh further raised serious concerns about the fitness and performance of the players.
On the fifth day of the Test match, the Pakistani team scored 146 runs and set a modest target of 30 runs for Bangladesh, which they comfortably achieved without losing a wicket.
Previously, Bangladesh had lost 12 out of 13 Test matches against Pakistan and managed to draw only one.
