Mohammad Rizwan is likely to lead Pakistan's white-ball team in the upcoming series against Australia next month, sources claimed.

The selection committee reportedly favors Rizwan for the captaincy, though the final decision will be made by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, following consultations with selectors and officials.

On the other hand, it looks like Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman is in trouble as Pakistan selectors are mulling over the squad for upcoming limited-overs series against Australia.

Not only Fakhar is facing fitness problems with his knee, but also disciplinary action is currently being taken against him.

Earlier, Salam Ali Agha's name also emerged for white-ball captaincy.

Meanwhile, fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain, who last featured in a One-Day International (ODI) in 2023, is also likely to make a return. His strong performances in the recent Champions Cup and President's Cup have impressed selectors.

Additionally, all-rounder Aamir Jamal and wicketkeeper-batsman Haseebullah are being considered for spots in the squad for the white-ball series in Australia.

Earlier this week, Cricket Australia announced a 14-member squad for the ODI series against Pakistan, set to begin on November 4 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The Australian squad includes: Pat Cummins (c), Sean Abbott, Cooper Connolly, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Marnus Labuschagne, Glenn Maxwell, Matthew Short, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa.
