The highly contagious disease has affected children younger than nine months as well as older adults.

According to official government data and reports from international health agencies, at least 336 children have died since March 15. There have been than 50,000 measles cases with most of them being children between six months and five years old.

One of the severely affected regions is Kurukpata in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, inhabited by the Indigenous population, which borders the strife-torn country of Myanmar.
