70-year-old woman raped, murdered in India

In a heartwrenching incident, an elderly woman was raped and then murdered by a man in India, local media reported on Tuesday.

According to Indian media, the 34-year-old suspect, identified as Mansoor Sheikh, took the victim with him at his village, Bheeta, in Ausa district.

The incident came to light when the suspect's neighbours reported to the police about the foul odor emanating from Shiekh's house.

Local media citing police said that the woman was strangled to death after rape.

Mansoor hid the victim's body in his house for two days, police added.

The law enforcers informed that the suspect was a mentally ill person, who was abandoned by his mother and wife.

The suspect was arrested by the police and an investigation into the matter is underway.
