An Accountability court in Islamabad issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for prime minister Imran Khan's spouse Bushra Bibi, in connection with a £190 million corruption case.

Judge Nasir Javed Rana issued the warrant on Friday due to Bushra Bibi’s continuous absence from court proceedings for eight consecutive hearings.

Her lawyer filed a petition seeking exemption from attendance on medical grounds.

However, the National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) lawyer objected, pointing out discrepancies in the medical records.

The lawyer noted that the records were from Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, but the verification was conducted in Islamabad.

The NAB representative further argued that the accused had not submitted her statement under Section 342 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) even during the latest hearing.

As a result, the court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for Bushra Bibi and directed NAB to arrest her and present her before the court on November 26. The court also issued a show-cause notice to her guarantor.
