A three-time felon man attacked a female judge during a court sentencing in a torture case in Las Vegas.
The accused, Debra Redden, jumped from the bench, threw the judge down, and assaulted her.
Security personnel in the courtroom intervened, saved the judge, and restrained the assailant. CCTV footage of the attack circulated on social media.
Judge Mary Kay Holthus, from the Clark County District Court, was attacked by Redden after she denied him bail during the sentencing.
Video footage captured the moment Redden rushed towards the judge, throwing himself on top of her and brutally beating her.
Security officers attempted to control Redden while the female judge begged him to stop.
Notably, Redden was being sentenced for aggravated battery with substantial bodily harm before launching the attack.
Both Judge Holthus and the Marshal were injured in the assault and received medical assistance.
Furthermore, the 30-year-old has a criminal history with charges in Nevada and Texas, including battery, robbery, assault, injury to property, and coercion.
Previously, a judge had determined Redden's competency, finding him competent in October.
