Republican candidate Donald Trump is projected to return to power for a second term after the November US presidential elections, as Kamala Harris's chances of winning crucial swing states diminish.

Trump has already secured three key swing states including Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Georgia.

Financial markets signaled a potential electoral victory for Donald Trump over his main rival, Kamala Harris.

The US dollar’s recent strength against other major currencies is a positive sign for financial markets, hinting at a possible Republican return to power for the second time since 2017.

Trump has pledged to eliminate tariffs, a move that could trigger inflation and prompt the US Federal Reserve to raise interest rates, further strengthening the dollar.

As of the latest results, Republicans have secured 188 seats in the House of Representatives, while Democrats hold 160 seats. Donald Trump has won 27 of the 50 U.S. states, with Kamala Harris trailing behind, having secured 19 states.

Republicans hold a majority in the Senate with 51 seats, while Democrats have won 43 seats in the upper house.

Amid the ongoing vote count, Republican candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris are closely vying for the presidency.

Due to six different time zones in America, polls opened at varying times across states.

According to US media, over 78.9 million Americans have already cast their ballots. To win the election, a candidate must secure at least 270 of the 538 electoral votes.
